The WSET Level 1 Award in Beer is an internationally recognised qualification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, regulated by Ofqual (UK). Learning through sight, smell, and taste, you will become familiar with a range of beer styles, how they are made, and how to serve and recommend them with confidence.

- Characteristics of key beer styles: malt-driven, hop-driven, yeast-driven, and sour styles

Total Qualification Time (TQT) Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 6 hours (minimum) | In-Person
Tasting Samples Level 1 is an introductory course where beer tasting is part of learning how to describe beer using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting Beer®. You won’t be examined on tasting, but tasting is key to understanding styles and characteristics.
The specification recommends tasting sample beers from contrasting styles to show differences in aroma, colour and bitterness. Samples include tasting around 10 different beers spanning:
- Lagers
- Pilsners
- IPAs
- Stouts
- Belgian abbey ales
A range of beer samples across key styles is included as part of the course. All samples are provided on the course day.

- Format: 30 multiple-choice questions, closed-book
- Pass mark: 70%
- Conducted at the end of the course day

On Successful Completion You Will Receive
- Official WSET Level 1 Award in Beer certificate (digital certificate issued via WSET Global Campus after results are released)
- WSET lapel pin (dispatched separately after results are confirmed — please allow 4–6 weeks for delivery)
- A foundation to progress to WSET Level 2 Award in Beer
Prerequisites None. No prior beer knowledge is required. You must be of legal drinking age in your state/city to participate in tastings.
Re-sit A re-sit fee applies if you do not pass on your first attempt. Please contact us for current re-sit pricing before booking. You are not permitted to re-sit a qualification solely to improve a Pass grade.

- To cancel your booking, write to us at least 7 working days before the course start date. North: [email protected] | West & South: [email protected]
- Cancellations received at least 7 working days before the start date: a cancellation charge of ₹4,000 (plus applicable taxes) will be deducted; the remaining fee will be refunded within 15 working days.
- Cancellations received less than 7 working days before the course date: no refund will be issued.
- Tulleeho Beverage Academy cancels the course: the full fee will be refunded within 15 working days.
If applicable, payment gateway charges will be deducted from the refund.
