The WSET Level 1 Award in Sake is an internationally recognised qualification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, regulated by Ofqual (UK). Tulleeho is one of the very few providers delivering WSET Sake qualifications in India. This hands-on introductory course explores the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell, and taste, building confident, structured knowledge of Japan’s most elegant drink.

Tasting Samples Tasting Samples

Level 1 is an introductory course that includes 7 or more tutored tastings of a variety of sake styles, so students can begin to recognise differences in aroma, flavour, texture and quality. Typical samples could include benchmark styles such as:

  • Honjōzō (basic/standard sake)
  • Junmai
  • Ginjō or Junmai Ginjō
  • Daiginjō or Junmai Daiginjō
  • Nama-zake (unpasteurized)
  • Nigori (cloudy)
  • Sparkling sake
  • Koshu (aged sake)

A range of sake samples across key styles is included as part of the course. All samples are provided on the course day.

  • Format: Multiple-choice questions, closed-book
  • Pass mark: 70%
  • Conducted at the end of the course day
  • Regulated by Ofqual, UK

On Successful Completion You Will Receive

  • Official WSET Level 1 Award in Sake certificate (digital certificate issued via WSET Global Campus after results are released)
  • WSET lapel pin (dispatched separately after results are confirmed, please allow 4–6 weeks for delivery)
  • A foundation to progress to WSET Level 2 Award in Sake

Prerequisites None. No prior sake knowledge is required. You must be of legal drinking age in your state/city to participate in tastings.

Re-sit A re-sit fee applies if you do not pass on your first attempt. Please contact us for current re-sit pricing before booking. You are not permitted to re-sit a qualification solely to improve a Pass grade.

Fee is all-inclusive: tuition, guided tasting samples, WSET study materials, examination, and digital certificate. WSET lapel pin dispatched separately after results. A 5% industry discount is available for hospitality professionals.

Cancellation Policy

  • To cancel your booking, write to us at least 7 working days before the course start date. North: [email protected] | West & South: [email protected]
  • Cancellations received at least 7 working days before the start date: a cancellation charge of ₹4,000 (plus applicable taxes) will be deducted; the remaining fee will be refunded within 15 working days.
  • Cancellations received less than 7 working days before the course date: no refund will be issued.
  • If Tulleeho Beverage Academy cancels the course: the full fee will be refunded within 15 working days.

If applicable, payment gateway charges will be deducted from the refund.
