On Successful Completion You Will Receive

- A foundation to progress to WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits
Prerequisites None. No prior spirits knowledge is required. You must be of legal drinking age in your state/city to participate in tastings. This is not a barrier to completing the qualification.
Re-sit A re-sit fee applies if you do not pass on your first attempt. Please contact us for current re-sit pricing before booking. You are not permitted to re-sit a qualification solely to improve a Pass grade.

Fee is all-inclusive: tuition, guided tasting samples, WSET study materials, examination, and digital certificate. WSET lapel pin dispatched separately after results. A 5% industry discount is available for hospitality professionals.
OFFLINE COURSE
When delivered in-person, Level 1 introduces students to the main spirit styles through guided tasting. The WSET specification recommends that candidates taste a minimum of 9 benchmark spirit samples during the course. These are chosen to represent major spirit categories and styles, and typically include:
- Vodka
- VS Cognac
- VSOP Cognac (or XO Cognac)
- Blended Scotch Whisky
- Straight Bourbon
- White Rum
- Dark Rum
- Blanco Tequila (100% agave)
- London Dry Gin
An optional liqueur may also be included. This selection helps students recognise key differences in style, flavour and production while applying the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits®.

- To cancel your booking, write to us at [email protected] at least 7 working days before the course start date.
- Cancellations received at least 7 working days before the start date: a cancellation charge of ₹4,000 (plus applicable taxes) will be deducted; the remaining fee will be refunded within 15 working days.
- Cancellations received less than 7 working days before the course date: no refund will be issued.
- If Tulleeho Beverage Academy cancels the course: the full fee will be refunded within 15 working days.
If applicable, payment gateway charges will be deducted from the refund.

“She’s a witch.” Not for spell-casting, but for the quality of her Cachaça. That’s how the owner of Trinca, São Paulo, described Maria Izabel.
Cachaça is Brazil’s national spirit, fermented sugarcane juice. Not molasses like most rum. Not pressed juice like Rum Agricole. Its own thing entirely. I first discovered fine Cachaça at the German Rum Festival in Berlin, 2015. Until then, only cheaper labels in India.
A pit stop in Paraty first, Costa Verde’s cobbled colonial town, dotted with Cachacarias. Then, an unmarked jungle road with Jhony, my Uber driver, until a hacienda appeared on a headland by the Atlantic. Infinity pool. Alembic still. Marmosets fed by hand. Not your usual distillery.
Maria Izabel’s family made Cachaça in the 1700s. She bought this estate in 1986, brought the first seedlings out by canoe, no roads then. “I had an idea, therefore.” 4,000 litres a year. Cane is cut and processed the same day. Soil rotated between cycles. No other Paraty producer follows her practices.
Eight expressions, a Blue Cachaça flavoured with mandarin leaves, an unaged Prata, Jequitiba-aged, through to an 8-year-old finished in Port casks. Maturation room below: Jequitiba, American Oak, Port Pipes, French Oak. “Just drink these neat.”
Tasting cost: 10 Reais. Bottles’ home: considerably more.
Her daughter, a potter, had just fed the marmosets outside. Inside sat a Ganesha she had made. A quiet India-Brazil moment. “I don’t even drink alcohol,” she told me.
What happens to a legacy this old when its keeper is gone? Perhaps a grandchild finds her diaries and starts again.
