Hospitality World, Bangalore

Planet Hollywood Comes to India
The Las Vegas Strip-based mega resort, Planet Hollywood, has announced plans to open between five to six restaurants in select Indian cities. With the first restaurant slated to open in Mumbai and then in Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad by 2010.
Shangri-La’s Foray into Bangalore
Hong-Kong based Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is launching its first business hotel brand 'Traders Hotel' in Bangalore. The Traders hotel would open in late 2008 with 316 rooms near the International Tech Park situated at Whitefield.
Oberoi to add 3 more to its portfolio
Oberoi Group to build three luxury hotels in India. The three hotels would be located in Mumbai, Goa and Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh).
Hyatt plans for 15 more…
The US-based Hyatt International Hotels and Resorts has planned to add another 15 five star and deluxe hotels and resorts in India over the next three to four years. Hyatt will set up two hotels each in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. It also has plans to expand its construction network in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Gurgaon.
Chandigarh- hot target for hotels
DLF in a joint venture has decided to build five star hotels in Chandigarh in the next three years. Radisson, Oberoi and ITC Hotels Division have also shown interest in setting up hotels in Chandigarh. DLF has already set aside 4 acres of land in the IT Park, where it will develop a five star hotel with 250 rooms, costing around Rs 250 crore.

The world's leading hotel brands are planning to enter the Indian hospitality industry in joint ventures with various domestic hotel majors of India. Even new brands such as Amanda, Satinwoods, Banana Tree, Hampton Inns, Scandium By Hilt and Mandarin Oriental are no more lagging behind in this matter.

Bombay Sapphire and Bling Bling!!
Bombay Sapphire gin announced the introduction of "Revelation" -- five one-of-a-kind gin bottles that are hand crafted from the world's finest crystal and precious sapphire jewels. The ultimate in luxury and sophistication, Revelation was envisioned in collaboration with Baccarat, the eminent creator of fine crystal, Garrard, the world's oldest jewellery house, and design luminary Karim Rashid. Each of the five bottles retails for $200,000 with profits going to charity.
United Spirits to bottle W&M locally
United Spirits is expected to go for local bottling of its Whyte & Mackay scotch whisky. Currently the brand is bottled at source in Scotland. Sources say that a locally bottled White & Mackay scotch would be pitted against Diageo’s Black & White and Vat 69.
Champagne Indage acquires Darlington Wines
Strengthening its overseas presence, Champagne Indage has recently acquired the assets of UK-based wine supplier Darlington Wines. Darlington Wines imports wines under its own label and also bottles, warehouses and distributes them to major supermarkets in the UK. Indage is reportedly also planning acquisitions in South Africa, Australia and UK.

Antioxidants shaken not stirred
Among the newest products in the Energy Drinks Segment is "Purple", an antioxidant-heavy blend of seven different fruits that the company bills as a health drink on its own and one that can counteract the effects of excess to boot. Mixology Gyan
Molecular Mixology goes to minus 360 degrees
Molecular mixologists are busy beating the heat with innovative yet sci-fi techniques using liquid nitrogen.
This is done by slowly stirring liquid nitrogen, which has a temperature of 360 degrees below zero, into any type of alcohol until it has the consistency of sorbet. It is not easy to freeze vodka or brandy due to its high alcohol content, but the brave mixologists have been able to perfect the method, and people have been going crazy for these amazing cocktails.
