Glassware

The Basics

Beer
Your beer glass could either be what they call a Pilsner glass - long narrow necked, held from the stem or a Beer mug with a handle.

Rock
For straight up drinks. Sometimes called an old-fashioned glass.

Highball
For tall drinks and cocktails. Typically an 8 to 12 ounce capacity.

Flute
For champagne. The flute which is narrow is preferable to the tulip shape one in which the fizz gets dissipated.

Wine glass
A simple wine glass will suffice for both red and white wine.

Shot glass
Small and squat. Holds anywhere upto 2 ounces.

Martini
A stemmed glass with an angular shaped bowl.

Margarita
Cup shaped.
