The Tulleeho Newsletter ( formerly known as Salmagundi ). January, 2009

Back to the Classics:

Whisky Sour
- the famous mixed drink containing Bourbon, lemon juice, sugar and egg white.

Mojito - probably the most famous rum-based highball in the world.

Black Russian - the 'Black' from Kahlua, and the 'Russian' because it has vodka.
Ask Tulleeho

Mohit: Why do we put a slice of lime on a Corona ?

Tulleeho: The original intent of putting a wedge of lime in a Corona bottle was for the purpose of using it to disinfect the rim of the bottle. Another popular explanation for this tradition is that coating the rim of the bottle with a lime kept flies from landing on it, which in the good old days were very abundant in Mexico! The tradition has carried on over the years and now the lime wedge has become a kind of USP and a marketing gimmick for the beer.

If you have a booze related query, you can Ask Tulleeho here.

Fighting such feelings of despondency, bordering depression, I decided; against all seeming odds to - much like that screeching diva - make it happen

Geoffrey's, Mumbai
Geoffrey’s Pub has been set up to give the uninitiated a feel of what the owners of Hotel Marine Plaza think is a typical English Pub. You can’t miss Marine Plaza Hotel. It is near the Air India Bldg. and is one of those forward thrusting places which frequently get above themselves, and then feel pissed when someone puts them down. Have you been to a typical English Pub? I haven’t and till I go to one Geoffrey’s will remain the benchmark (!!!).
