10 Chapters South African wine

United Vintners, the South African Embassy along with the ITC Sheraton, New Delhi introduced "The 10 Chapters of South Africa – the Ultimate Wine Trail" to a select audience at a walk-around tasting of their wines on 24 October, 2008. Explaining the concept of 10 Chapters, Stefan Gerber the visionary winemaker said, "It is the first time that a country has been explained in the form of wine. At 10 Chapters we are extremely proud of this novel concept and are very excited at the prospect of showcasing South Africa to the Indian market through our wines."
The wines will be released every three or four months reflecting the different regions. These are: (1) Capetown and its surroundings, (2) Swarthland and the West coast, (3) Along the Elephants River, (4) Heading North, (5) Through the Karoo, (6) Breede River Valley, (7) Tulbagh - The Secluded Valley, (8) Valley of the Paarl Rock, (9) Into the Overberg and (10) Stellenbosch.
South African cricketing legend, Jonty Rhodes is one of the faces behind this wine as a Director and the marketing face for the wine label. Talking about India, the amiable Jonty Rhodes says, "I am really excited to be back in India, albeit this time on a different pitch! After cricket, the world of wines has been a great passion for me, and I am happy to be here to share my current passion with a nation that so deeply shares my other passion - cricket."
Blue Nun & Kaya

Natures Bounty Wines & Allied Products Private Limited recently launched the German Blue Nun wine range and the South African Kaya wines in the Indian market.
An enthusiastic Amit Burman of Nature’s Bounty expects the wine industry to pick up pace and grow even faster than the current growth rate. This, he feels, is due the change in the perception of wine drinking trends in the country. What earlier was a fashion, has today become a passion.
Blue Nun and Kaya wines are to be retailed through wine and spirit shops, restaurants, bars and hotels in the Indian market.
Bacardi Clear Lemon

Bacardi India recently launched the world’s first colourless breezer in New Delhi, India. It is a refreshing, crisp and tangy lemon flavoured drink which will appeal to consumers in the younger age groups. Breezers being the largest selling among ready-to-drink segment, the company is expecting the sales to rise with this new addition to the breezer portfolio with Cranberry, Orange, Lime and Jamaican Passion. Bacardi Lemon is available at Rs.45 for a 250 ml bottle.
GERMANY'S BEST, NOW IN INDIA

Germany's best vodka brand and the third strongest spirit brand, Wodka Gorbatschow was launched in India on 9th June '08. It is a joint venture between Allied Blenders and Distillers Pvt. Ltd. (ABD) and the brand's owner Henkell & Sohnlein Sektkellereien KG Wiesbaden, Germany. Wodka Gorbatschow is among the top 15 vodkas of the world and is a member of the "Club of Millionaires" with 1.4 million cases sold. It was awarded the Monde Selection Gold Medal in 2006.
Gorbatschow is considered as a highly premium brand because of the triple-chill filtration process it goes through at a temperature of -12°C and then double filtered through charcoal making the product highly smooth and pure. Bottled locally at ABD's Aurangabad’s plant; a 750 ml bottle will be available for Rs.570/- in select cities at licensed liquor stores.
WINE PARK BRINGS BRANCAIA FROM ITALY
Wine Park, an upcoming wine importer recently launched the flagship IL BLU wine of the prestigious Italian wine Brancaia. The highlight of the launch in the last week of May '08 was a vertical tasting of 12 vintages of the label in Mumbai and Delhi.
Brancaia IL BLU is designated as a "Super Tuscan" because of its blend that comprises of 50 % Sangiovese, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and matured for 18 - 20 months in French barriques. Having the aroma of cut roses and lilacs, with undertones of berries and cherries, velvety balanced tannins and a very long finish.
Brancaia, located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany, has been owned since 1981 by the Swiss couple Brigitte and Bruno Widmer. Their portfolio includes products like Brancaia Chianti Classico DOCG, Brancaia Ilatraia and Brancaia Tre in wines, a Brancaia Extra virgin Olive Oil, and an ultra-premium Brancaia Grappa, all of which will be also available in India through Wine Park.

Danish brewer Carlsberg recently started operation of its brewery in Himachal Pradesh and launched its beer brand in New Delhi. Carlsberg beer is mild, spiced, with a unique Carlsberg aromatic hop which gives it the distinct spicy flavor and fruity aroma. Brewed from 100% imported malted barley. The bottle has won many awards for its unique stylish design. The beer is available in bottles of 650 ml and 330 ml.
It is priced at Rs.60 (650ml) and Rs.35 (330ml) in Delhi. In India it operates through the South Asia Breweries and will be launched through out the country in phases, targeting the metro cities first.

THE BARON COMES TO INDIA

February 28, 2008 witnessed the debut of Baron's Strong Beer by Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd. Being a corporate brand of APBL, it is the first international premium brand to be brewed and launched by APBL's India arm. It will cater to the strong beer segment which contributes to almost 60% of the Indian beer market. The brand was initially launched in New Delhi and will be available in 650ml and 330 ml bottles.
