Temptations , the pub attached to Hotel Metro Palace , Bandra (W) - has been a very famous watering hole in the suburbs for ages now . Situated next to Independence Cafe - this place really rocks . No DJ here though - the very famous and not-so-ubiquitous jukebox instead . Has a great collection of rock , contemporary music and also slow , senti numbers . No trance . But there's some techno available for the “I am a Barbie-Girl …” crowd . You need 5 bucks to play your choice though. And it could be sometime till your song plays as there are already several in queue . But much better than being forced to listen to what some DJ plays. Also some gaming consoles lying around – in case you wish to play .

A pitcher of beer and some light snacks to go along - is the most economical , and satisfying choice to make here – and is a favorite with the regular college junta . They also serve all the usual cocktails – Bloody Mary being the best - nothing out of the blue though . Peanuts or Potato Chips with spicy schezwan sauce can be had for good timepass.

The ambience is dim-lit , old world , relaxing and real cosy and romantic . Nice place to get your girlfriend along , especially in the afternoons when the crowd is thin . The waiters are really helpful and like doing what they do and most of them mind their own business - with the exception of one Head Waiter – who plays SpoilSport , Big Daddy and Moral Police all rolled into one. Ignore him , and you could happily smooch in the corner . Believe it or not , the loo is another great place to smooch - its nice , big, clean and has a common entrance for guys and girls - and lots of people kiss in the corridor where the mirrors are.

The crowd is a nice mix of the young and old. Mostly young that is. Not a place for business meets or dinners – but a place to unwind and relax . The place is cheerful and full of life always. Weekends the place is full – especially nights - and it could be difficult finding a seat anywhere. In short , if you are looking for much needed privacy with your loved one – Or you just want to spend some time alone listening to great rock – Or just want to freak out with friends – all without making a huge dent in your wallet – Temptations is the place to be .


Tull-ee-ho! : A combination of the old hunting cry Tally Ho! and the colloquial Hindi drinking word "tullee". Also Indian for cheers.
