k b rajendran I am in a mood to try out margarita. Can u tell me which are the best brands of tequila. Also
what is this Cointreau ? How much does it cost ?
Shatbhi : hi rajendran,
thanks for writing in.
maragarita's tend to do that to a person - the mood thing! good for you.
to answer your question - the best brands of tequila for a margarita are :
Jose Cuervo
Sauza
Pepe Lopez
Tres Magueyes
Mariachi
Camino
These are the brands you will find with Indian bootleggers. Tres Magueyes
may still be available in a wine shop depending on which city you belong
to.
Cointreau is a sweet orange flavoured liqueur/flavoured spirit which is
essential to flavour a margarita. Costs between 1000/- - 1800/- a bottle
depending on availability. Triple sec is a substitute.
You going to mix that margarita urself or go drink it at a bar? need
inputs on that as well?

Puneet what's the difference and where is the difference introduced while producing a bitter beer and a canned draught like Guinness or Boddington ?
Shatbhi : hi again puneet,
u going to tell me ur secret on so much booze
interest or what?!
Bees like guiness use a specific kind of
fermentation process and yeast
and belong to the category of stout or dark ales.
They are top fermented beers which allow the beer to
retain a lot of
flavour from the hops as well as from the malted
barley. The bitterness
comes from the hops which are added just before
fermenting into the
mash. The result of the top fermentation is a dark
beer which is creamy,
not highly bubbly like a lager, with a nice white
head of foam. It also
has a hint of sweetness despite the bitter.
If u need to get technical, would strongly
advise u to visit the
guiness site.

Arnab Ganguly I have got a
hennessy and want to know what is the proper way to
drink cognac (what time, what should be added etc.) Gautam Rai ( Brand Executive, Moet-Hennessy Asia) : hi Arnab,
It really depends on what blend of hennessy you have
got. Hennessy is had in many ways the world over ..... depends on what your palate takes to really. The way we recommend you have it in India
(in our effort to groom the Indian consumer to the Hennessy experience) is
as follows :
Hennessy V.S :Hennessy V.S is the youngest blend in the Indian Hennessy portfolio and therefore, to optimally
highlight it's freshness, youth and vibrancy, we
promote it as a tall
drink, i.e. meant to be had in a tall hi-ball glass, with
lots of ice and a mixer. after careful deliberation
(and sampling), we have concluded that the mixers
that go best with Hennessy V.S are :
Schweppes Ginger Ale,
Schweppes Tonic Water and Soda.
Hennessy Ginger Ale has a sweetish
taste and would appeal to
your palate if you like some of the sweeter drinks
(and cocktails) eg. LITs, Margaritas, etc.
Hennessy Tonic has a medium sweet taste and is quite
long-legged (i.e. the flavour
remains in your
mouth a while after you've swallowed the sip). The
slight tinge of bitter
that it leaves at the back of your tongue is one that leaves your mouth feeling fresh. To draw an analogy,
it's got the length that a strong cup of coffee has
after you've finished it.
You'd probably go for this
Hennessy mixer if you are
biased to other tall white drinks like Vodka, Gin,
etc.
Hennessy Soda is for the whisky drinker - straight and simple. At the end of the day, it's still a blend of
over 40 distilled wines that have been matured to
recreate a unique experience for one who's inclined
to the more
conventional flavours.
Having said that though, the one phrase that encapsulates the Hennessy Experience as a tall drink is ' Refreshing'.
Hennessy X.O : Hennessy X.O is the old and
matured champion in the
Hennessy stables though despite it's age, it is strong in spirit and delicate of texture. It is, to draw a parallel, the Al Pacino of cognacs and to showcase this unique character from Hennessy X.O while highlighting it's contemporary spirit, we promote it as "Hennessy X.O on the Rocks" served in tumbler glasses quite like the ones used for whisky. The slight dilution and sudden temperature drop of the drink in the tumbler mellows it down a bit while at the same time releases the timeless aromas that the cellar master - the master blender behind the creation of your bottle of Hennessy X.O .
The aforementioned modes of enjoying the various
Hennessy blends are
solely our perception of how the Indian consumer
take to Hennessy. But in
the end, there is only one rule that counts, and
that is your own personal
pleasure !!
To your health.
